Article Review: Being a ‘fit mom’ doesn’t mean I have to be a ‘selfish mom’ KSL.com

I agree with this article. As an active mother that is an athlete & coach by profession and raising four children. It can be challenging to find balance but I do believe it is doable. Children learn best through example and I believe you can be a better mom when you take a little time to refuel (mentally) and take care of your health. If not, your body will find a way to get the time (ie. Heart attack, diabetes, back injury). I have always tried to find ways to involve my children in fitness and health. I have taken them to the track and let them spray me with a water bottle each time I come around. They totally loved it and I was so excited to see them each time as they chased me with the water bottle laughing. We all had a great workout! We have had “plank” holding and “pull up” contests at home. I often cook with my children too. It’s amazing how many healthy foods they will eat if they have a hand in preparing it (ie. Kale, eggs, salads, etc..). Taking care of our bodies is a responsible adult decision and being healthy helps us be a better Mom/parent and teach our children how to be healthy.Live Well,Coach Lora Erickson aka Blonde Runnerwww.BlondeRunner.comReview the article here
